Julia Purinton Artist Biography

Julia Purinton studied fine arts at Harvard College and at the School for Visual Arts in NYC. After many years of corporate & residential mural commissions, her primary focus has shifted to landscape painting. Narrative rather than purely descriptive in intent, her work often elicits emotional responses to changing seasons & shifting light, her preoccupation with transience a reminder that the natural world is both cyclic & impermanent, and our experience of it both fleeting & enduring.

Purinton regularly participates in group shows on the North Shore, Open Studio events in Boston, and her paintings can be seen at Chameleon in Newburyport, MA, Redmond Bennett Gallery in Dublin, NH, Carspecken Scott Gallery in Wilmington, DE, & Pandion Gallery, Fisher's Island, NY.

Selected clients include the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Historical Society, Essex National Heritage Commission, the Trustees of Reservations, Essex County Greenbelt, & The White House.
